Claire Billegas: I can afford the "luxury" of being a college student like anyone else can these days...Stafford loans, I have to pay it all back.
Cedric Grimstead: Renters insurance, flat out , is the cheapest insurance there is. Boat insurance usually comes next, then life insurance, then motorcycle insurance, house insurance, car insurance, disability insurance and health insurance come last.
Sharee Doak: You can do it when the regulations are in effect in 6 months. According to the new law you do not have to be a full time student to join your parents insurance plan. You can stay under their health insurance to age 26. You are a dependent if they claim you on their tax return so you are home free and you don't have to live with them.
Joie Libutti: There are a WHOLE BUNCH of possible reasons, here are a few:1. you live on your own, they don't provide you any financial support, and they don't claim you as a dependent on their taxes (that means, you! 're not LEGALLY their dependent)2. they don't want to cover you3. their employers don't allow for dependents to be added to the group plan4. you're married (not legally their dependent, if you're married!)I would wonder, though, if your parents provide you with NO financial support, how you can afford the luxury of being a full time college student with only a part time job to pay books, tuition, fees, rent, utilities, food, transportation, etc....Show more
Janeen Perona: I am a full time college student and have to claim my parents' income every year when I apply for financial aid since I am 22 years old. However, I live on my own and they provide me no financial support whatsoever for anything. I miss out on so many grants because of their income while I am struggling with my little part time job at the mall, I have no money for my own health insurance, I cant even afford it from my employer, shouldn't I be able to get back on my parent's family plan now that I a! m back in school?...Show more

Melissa Lavallie: You don't "claim their income" on taxes. You're talking about financial aid applications, which is different. If you live on your own financially, you are NOT a dependent for tax purposes. They WILL be able to cover you but are not required to do so under their insurance plan (up to age 26) when that provision of the health reform law takes effect.
Tomi Vauters: First ask yourself why you need insurance. What are the things which if the get damaged or destroyed would mean a setback for you, or someone else?Ho! me, Car, Health, Accident/Disability, Life, etc is what people commonly ! take insurance for. Its best if you contact an advisor who can guide you. Take life insurance only if you have dependents who need your financial support.
