Cody Shimko: Welcome to New Mexico. There is no public transportation to the mountains. And if you aren't an experienced hiker going to the high country is dangerous. Every year hikers disappear and some are never found. My suggestion is you stick to the areas you can reach now.

Nell Dipiero: I remember that I saw some serious hiking groups at an online site. Sorry, but I don't know the website. Generally, cites only have public transportation. There are many forms of private transportation between cities, never a cheap public form of transportation.
