Esteban Faggett: Britax. (We have the Marathon, which converts into a booster seat)Expensive, but I believe it's worth it!
Mee Blumenfeld: Consumer reports is a lousy place to go for carseat safety info. They test everything from icecream to air conditioners... they are generalists who don't know enough about proper testing for carseats and they won't share full information on *how* they do set up their tests with those that do know. All car seats are fully safety tested before being put on the market. The safest seat is one that you will use correctly every time you use it. Britax seats have nice features that can make them easier to use correctly... but that doesn't make them safer than a cheaper seat that is used correctly. If you are careful to correctly install your seat... if you have your installation checked by a certified car seat technician... they your seat is as safe as any seat can be....Show more
Barrett Alosa: I agree with Ketchup and would o! nly add that the longer a seat can stay rear-facing, the safer it is. Therefore, I would say that a seat that can rear-face to higher weights is more safe than one that cannot. I also like the EPS foam which is only available in a couple of car seats - it's the same foam that is in a bicycle helmet and prevents the child's head from striking hard plastic in an accident. And I really like the rear-facing tether strap, too - I always felt that the seats were too floppy when rear facing if they didn't have that (and it is much safer if you use one). There are only 2 brands with all those features - Britax and Sunshine Kids. I have a Britax and love it - I used to have a Graco seat and the Britax is just a million times better and easier to use....Show more
