Jimmie Doerfler: Pierced earrings are e-z and not too expensive. Free patterns on the internet-- "How to make earrings" searchTissue paper flowers, on Martha Stewart websiteButton bracelets are cute and ez way to use up discarded buttons. Wrap round elastic around your wrist twice. Weave/thread the elastic through the holes in the buttons. (a button with 4 holes, you will insert the elastic from the back of the button and then up and over diagonal to the next hole; the two hole button, you will insert the elastic from the bottom to the top and down through the other hole. The really neat thing is that the buttons will automatically turn and "rest" on each other in opposite directions without completely covering the other button up.) You will need at least 18 buttons for each bracelet depending on the size of the buttons and the size of ! your wrist. I even added a themed shaped (like a teddy bear or heart) pony bead to the middle of the bracelet with buttons on either side of it. Make whirligigs using strips of plastic canvas, 20 gauge floral wire- 9 inches long, pony beads or faucet beads. Cut the plastic strips 3-holes wide by 29 holes long. You will need 12-15 strips for each whirligig. (The whirligig will look like a sort of squished ball when finished). To assemble, make a hanging loop at one end of the floral wire, thread on a bead of any size, then begin threading the strips of plastic canvas by inserting the wire in the top middle hole of each strip. Next add 4 any color pony beads. Now you will begin to thread the other end of the plastic strips onto the wire by going through the bottom middle hole of each strip. Fan the strips out a little bit when adding to the wire. You will also need to bend the wire slightly in order to thread the strips onto the wire. Push the group of strips up snu! g against the row of beads and add one last bead to the end. ! Finish off by forming another loop to the wire to secure the bead and strips in place. Add a string to hang the whirligig. Using several colors of plastic canvas adds a pleasing effect. This is a an old craft, but the young kids like to watch them twirl.Bren...Show more
