video card for gaming: external unit?

Porfirio Gartland: Because the video output from the external video card cannot go back to the laptop's screen; it has to output to another device.Also external graphics cards are pretty terrible. I'd recommend just getting a new laptop that can handle gaming.

Susan Rambo: Response to first answer: Have to contradict you on one thing: An External Nvidia will give a sizable increase in performance over an internal Intel GMA!!! However as to the second monitor: That Part of the First responder's answer is making some sense. So the Asus XG station's connection with the laptop is a ONE-WAY connection? It receives the video graphics, but it wont send it back to the same display screen.
